Officers probe woman's death in Anderson fire
ANDERSON, S.C. (AP) -- Officials are investigating the death of a woman following a fire at an unoccupied house in Anderson.
Anderson County Deputy Coroner Don McCown says a man told investigators that he and his wife were at the home doing some cleaning Tuesday morning when he left to get some coffee.
The man told authorities when he returned about 15 minutes later the house was engulfed in flames.
Firefighters found the woman's body inside the home. McCown says the man had suffered burns to his hands.
Their names have not been released.
The man told authorities the owner of the house had hired the couple to do some cleaning.
Sheriff's deputies are investigating the fire.
An autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday.
