SUMMERVILLE, S.C. (WCIV) -- Officials at Cane Bay High School have responded to rumors circulating on social media in regards to safety concerns at the school.
Messages were shared on Facebook about the school being on lockdown.
School spokesperson Kathie Sizemore said the school was not on locdown on Monday, but law enforcement officers were called to the campus as a precaution. She said a phone blast was sent to parents just after 11 a.m. to inform them the school was operating as normal, and there were no safety concerns.
"We'll monitor the situation," Sizemore said. "We want to be sure all of the rumors are dispelled. if we need to keep law enforcement on campus until we are sure everything is put to rest, we're gonna do that. We're going to take the precautions that we need to, to make sure students are safe."
