Officials: Bodies of slain Mt. Pleasant couple return home
MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (WCIV) -- The bodies of a Mount Pleasant couple slain in the Caribbean country of St. Maarten have been taken back to South Carolina, officials said.
A spokesman for the prosecutor's office in St. Maarten said in a news release late Friday afternoon the bodies of Michael and Thelma king were taken from the island with family.
Also, according to the prosecutor's office, witnesses are still being interviewed.
The Whitaker Funeral Home in Newberry posted this statement to its website Friday:
"The family greatly appreciates the outpouring of love and support that has been shared with them during this tragedy. They humbly request that you respect their privacy and allow them to be together as a family on Saturday, September 29 and to resume your visits on Sunday. Sept. 30, 2012"
