Officials expect bigger Atlantic Beach Bikefest
ATLANTIC BEACH, S.C. (AP) - The Harley-Davidson bike rally on the Grand Strand is over, and officials are expecting this week's Atlantic Beach Bikefest to be bigger than last year.
The Sun News of Myrtle Beach reports (http://bit.ly/1j22CmY ) the Bikefest that attracts predominantly black bikers to the South Carolina coast opens Friday and continues through Memorial Day.
Assistant Atlantic Beach town manager Linda Cheatham says as of last week there were 21 vendors expected. Cheatham says there are usually several who sign up just before the festival.
Organizers have reduced vendor fees and added more entertainment for the rally.
The hours are also being extended. Last year, activities ended at 2 a.m.
The town council has agreed that the festivities can continue through 4 a.m. in the predominantly black beach town beside North Myrtle Beach.
