One dead after deer strikes motorcycle in Horry Co.

HORRY COUNTY, S.C. (WCIV) -- A passenger is dead after a deer struck the side of a motorcycle Sunday, said officers with the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

Officers said the motorcycle was traveling on US 501 at about 7:45 a.m. when the deer ran out into the road.

The driver lost control and both the driver and the passenger were ejected, officers said.The two were transported to the hospital, where the passenger later died, officers said.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.
