ORANGEBURG, S.C. (AP) - Slow-moving storms dumped up to 10 inches of rain in parts of Orangeburg County, prompting street flooding and leaving dozens of vehicles stranded in the high water.
National Weather Service meteorologist Whitney Smith said the Columbia office had received reports of up to 10 inches of rain in the Cordova area.
Smith said the Orangeburg Department of Public Utilities reported more than 8 inches of rain at the water plant. Edisto Memorial Gardens had nearly 9 inches of rain
She said water damage was reported at the Orangeburg County Library and the Orangeburg County Courthouse.
Police Capt. Carl Shultz said several motorists were stranded and had to be rescued, but no injuries were reported.
