HARDEEVILLE, S.C. (WCIV) -- The owner of an immigration services business in Beaufort County bilked customers out of thousands of dollars, investigators said.

In a news release, Beaufort County sheriff's deputies said Michael G. Wyman, 54, was arrested and charged with ten counts of breach of trust with fraudulent intent.

Wyman had run the since-closed Immigration Angels business on Hilton Head Island.

According to investigators, customers of Wyman's reported he took their money but never provided services for which they had paid him. Also, investigators said, the business was closed earlier this month.

The Beaufort County Sheriff's Department reports ten victims have been identified, but several hundred files were seized when a search warrant was served at the business.

According to the Associated Press, Wyman is a former lawyer who was disbarred in 2002 for embezzling nearly $700,000 from a couple during a real estate deal.

Anyone who had dealings with Wyman or Immigration Angels can call Investigator Cpl. L. Resto at 843-255-3510 or Investigator LCpl. J. Shelton at 843-255-3511.
