Oxygen Ball sets record with $265K fundraiser

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- The 6th annual Lowcountry Dancing with the Stars Oxygen Ball raised $265,000 for the American Lung Association, setting a record for the event.

On May 9, local celebrities paired with professional dancers from the Fred Astaire Dance Studios for the dancing competition at the Charleston Marriott.

Celebrities included Elizabeth Colbert-Busch, Director of Business Development at the Clemson University Restoration Institute, Rob Concannon, President of the South Carolina Stingrays, Shelley Hochman, Partner at the Facial Surgery Center, Michael Scarafile, President of Carolina One Real Estate Services, and Catherine Stuhr, Vice President of J. Henry Stuhr, Inc.

After a fierce and close competition, Catherine Stuhr and her professional partner Travis Willert took home the coveted championship disco ball trophy. Their winning dance was a cha-cha to Kesha's hit song "Timber."

Before the dance competition, there was a silent auction, a gourmet dinner, and a live auction.

The Oxygen Ball is the American Lung Association in South Carolina's largest fundraiser.
