Pastor to be charged in 2 more rape cases

Dale Richardson

SUMMERVILLE, S.C. (WCIV) -- Officials with the Dorchester County Sheriff's Office have confirmed that a Lowcountry pastor recently charged in a handful of alleged kidnappings and rapes will be charged in two additional rape cases.

Dale Richardson appeared in bond court in Summerville on Wednesday to face one count of criminal sexual conduct and one count of kidnapping stemming from an incident involving a young woman on July 27, 2011.

Richardson is the ex-pastor at Freedom Will Baptist Church in Summerville. On Wednesday, members of his church confirmed he is no longer the pastor there. Congregation members even removed his name this week from the sign that sits near the church.

Richardson was first charged with kidnapping and possession of a firearm during a violent crime by North Charleston Police a few weeks ago following a woman's claim that she was sexually assaulted on July 27. Police say he picked up 20-year-old woman, bound her hands and placed a pillow case over her head. They then believe he drove her to 119 Barnhill Road in Ladson and raped as well as forced her to perform oral sex while at gunpoint.

In a separate case last August investigators believe Richardson picked up a woman at a Hess gas station. The victim said he was driving a white Cadillac. From there, the victim said Richardson drove to the area of Carolina Commerce Parkway, where he pulled a handgun, bound her wrists, covered her head and drove to an unknown home, where she was raped.
