Patriots Point to welcome 9 millionth visitor
MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (WCIV) -- In the next couple of weeks, Patriots Point Naval & Maritime Museum will be on the lookout for its nine millionth paid visitor since the museum opened in 1976. The lucky patron will receive a prize pack valued at nearly $2,500."When Patriots Point Naval & Maritime Museum got its start almost forty years ago, we were the first aircraft carrier museum in the nation. Since that time, we have welcomed millions of students, generations of families, and countless veterans," said Patriots Point Executive Director Mac Burdette.Burdette estimates the museum has had a local economic impact of over $700 million over the past 37 years.Patriots Point will present the nine millionth visitor with a private three-course dinner for two aboard the USS Yorktown, a Charleston Harbor tour for four, a carriage tour for four, and a two-night stay for a family of four plus dinner and breakfast. The 9,000,000th visitor will also receive a voucher for a Carnival Cruise for two people, a helicopter ride at Patriots Point with PeeDee Helicopter, an experience in the Patriots Point Flight Simulator, merchandise from the Patriots Point Ships Store gift shop, and a one year Membership for free future visits to Patriots Point.
