Peace Corps to allow applicants to choose location

WASHINGTON (AP) -- People applying to the Peace Corps can now pick where they want to serve.

Peace Corps Director Carrie Hessler-Radelet says allowing applicants to pick specific countries to serve in "will help Peace Corps recruit Americans who are not just interested in imagining a better world, but rolling up their sleeves and doing something about it."

The time it takes to fill out an application online also has been reduced, from eight hours to about one hour.
