Phonebank Spotlight: People Against Rape

MT. PLEASANT, S.C. (WCIV) -- Survivors of sexual assault always have a place to go or someone to talk to in the Lowcountry.{} The staff at People Against Rape are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. {}PAR is program that offers support and services for sexual assault victims. In addition to their crisis hotline, they also offer medical and legal appointment accompaniment, counseling and therapy referrals. As the organization grows, so does a need for more volunteers. Being a volunteer is a great way to dedicate time to an important cause, build your resume and learn valuable skills.{}

This week PAR is offering training for those interested in helping out. The classes are being held at the College Of Charleston in room 116 of the Education Center at the following times: Thursday, Jan. 23: 6-8:30 p.m.Friday, Jan. 24: 6-8:30 p.m.Saturday, Jan. 25: 8:30 a.m. - 5 p.m.Sunday, Jan. 26: 8:30 a.m. - 5 p.m.For more information please call in to the ABC News 4 Volunteer Phonebank between 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.{} If you can't get to the phone during the phonebank you can still call, you'll just have to dial different numbers.
