Plumbers chase robber who stole from Petco employee

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- Plumbers chased an armed robbery suspect that stole money from a Petco employee trying to make deposits at a bank, said officials with the North Charleston Police Department.

According to a report, police were called to the Wells Fargo Bank on Rivers Avenue on Friday afternoon.

The victim told detectives he was making a deposit for Petco and was carrying the bank deposit bag under his arm, the report states. The victim told detectives the suspect grabbed the bag and ran toward Rivers Avenue. According to the report, there was $5,182 in cash in the bag.

Three plumbers were in the parking lot, the report states, and witnessed the incident. Christopher Rutowski, Christian Taylor Allen Chaplin and Jervy Lenoard Chaplin chased the suspect on foot. According to the report, the plumbers were able to temporarily block the suspect before the suspect dropped the deposit bag and escaped again on foot.

Police said all of the money was recovered and they are still looking for the suspect.

The reports describes the suspect as an African-American male between 20 and 30 years old.
