Police: 2 men arrested after refusing to leave property, fighting officers

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- Two men were arrested after they refused to leave a downtown Charleston apartment complex and started a fight with officers Wednesday night, police said.

According to a Charleston Police Department report, Ian Kyle Ravanel and Saderrisk Derrell Turner were arrested late Wednesday night. Ravanel was charged with trespassing after notice and resisting arrest. Turner was charged with disobeying a lawful order and assault on police.

The report states officers at the Bridgeview Apartments on Romney Street saw Ravanel, who had been previously banned from visiting the complex for fighting. The officers approached Ravanel and asked him to leave.{}

After warning Ravanel to leave or face arrest, Turner reportedly became angry and combative. Officers told him to leave the area and he said he did not have to leave because he lives at the complex, according to the report.

While officers arrested Ravanel, the report states Turner charged the officers and appeared like he was going to hit them. A struggle ensued, the report states, and Turner was restrained and arrested.

According to the report, one of the officers had a cut to his hand and a torn shirt.

Both men are being held at the Al Cannon Detention Center.
