Victims use Facebook to contact police after armed robbery

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- Thanks to social media, Charleston police responded to a home on Amherst Street for reports of an armed robbery.

According to police reports, three victims were sitting on the couch when three black men in hoodies kicked in the door and "immediately began to jump on and repeatedly strike" two of the victims.

That's when police say one of the robbers pulled out a gun and demanded drugs and/or valuables.

The victims say the robbers made off with wallets, a couple of iPhones, a Playstation 2 and a laptop among other things.

Another computer was left behind and one of the victims used Facebook to ask a friend to call police.

Police say the suspects are still at large. If you know anything about this or any other crime, you are asked to call Crime Stoppers at 554-1111.
