Police arrest burglar just 30 mins after he broke into Society St home

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- Charleston police say they have arrested a North Charleston man for robbing an apartment in downtown's historic district.

The burglary happened on Society Street around 11 p.m. Tuesday night. Police report the suspect was in custody just 30 minutes later.

Police say the victim walked downstairs and found a man standing in her living room looking in her handbag. She yelled at the man who became startled and ran out of the house so she ran after him. A witness, who saw the man run out of the apartment, called the police and gave them a description of the suspect and told them which way he ran

Stacey Brown, 42, is charged with burglary in the first degree.
