Police arrest man in downtown Charleston armed robbery
CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- A North Charleston man was arrested after Charleston police say he robbed a man early Sunday morning.
According to police, 34-year-old Demitrius Anthony Wells, of North Charleston, was charged with armed robbery.
A police report states that the victim was stopped at a stop sign on Congress Street around 4:40 a.m. when a man got into his car and pointed a knife at him.
The suspect, who police later identified as Wells, forced the man to give up some money before running away.
Officers found Wells several minutes later.
Wells is being held at the Al Cannon Detention Center on a $250,000 bond.
