      Police investigate fatal crash into sweetgrass basket stand

      MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (WCIV) -- Mount Pleasant police confirmed Tuesday that the sweetgrass basket stand that was the scene of a fatal accident{} Monday was empty.Officials said the accident happened just after 2 p.m. on Highway 17 at Hamlin Road.A Mt. Pleasant police spokesperson said the vehicle, driven by Wendy Castro-Valle, was heading north. Castro-Valle reportedly ran a red light causing the vehicle to fish-tail, swerve to the right an hit the booth.Castro-Valle of Myrtle Beach died as a result of the collision and no one was in the sweetgrass basket stand, officials said. Three other occupants of the vehicle were taken to MUSC with minor injuries.
