Police say 1 dead in Rivers Avenue shooting Monday

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- An altercation in a parking lot Monday afternoon led to a fatal shooting in North Charleston, police say.{}

According to police, the shooting happened at the Siesta Motor Lodge at 4044 Rivers Avenue shortly after 1 p.m. Police say two men were involved in a fight in the parking lot when one of the men pulled out a gun and shot the other.{}

The victim was taken to Medical University Hospital in serious condition. He later died, police said Tuesday. The coroner's office identified him as 31-year-old Markay Deveaux, of North Charleston.{}

Police have already taken the suspect into custody, officers said. Police identified the suspect as Walter Graham Jr.

Police said that the victim and Graham's daughter were involved in a relationship, and that is how the two knew each other.{}

The coroner's office has not released the identity of the victim yet.
