NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- Police are investigating a fatal shooting Tuesday outside a post office in North Charleston.
According to police, a man was found shot inside a vehicle in the parking lot of the post office, 2180 McMillan Ave.
A spokesman for the North Charleston Police Department said the shooting "has nothing to do with the post office."
The post office building is adjacent to the Pine Haven Plaza Shopping Center.
Officials with the coroner's office identified the shooting victim as Kareen Wylder, 30, of North Charleston.
An autopsy will be conducted Wednesday.
"I'm wondering when violence is going to stop in Charleston," said a woman who identified herself as a family friend. "Just ridiculous."
Police said they were called to the scene just before 5 p.m., where they found Wylder unresponsive inside an SUV.
"The incident is being investigated as a suspicious death," said Spencer Pryor of the North Charleston Police Department.
Crime scene tape was being removed just before 7 p.m. Tuesday, and a black SUV was taken from the scene by investigators.
Wylder has a criminal history dating back to 1999, according to records from the State Law Enforcement Division. Arrests include petit larceny, simple assault, possession of a stolen vehicle, drug possession and grand larceny.
