Police investigate shootings in Walterboro area

      WALTERBORO, S.C. (WCIV) -- Walterboro police were called to Colleton Medical Center Thursday afternoon after a man was treated for a gunshot wound.

      According to the police report, the 21-year-old victim said he was walking down the street near the Horizon store on Snyder Highway when he heard four or five gun shots. One of those shots hit him in the left leg.

      No one else in the area heard the shots and there in no suspect information at this time.

      Investigations then revealed the shooting didn't happen within Walterboro City limits, so the case has been forwarded to the Colleton County Sheriffs Office.

      Another shooting happened on Green Pond Highway but no one was injured.

      Officers responded to a home Thursday night where the homeowner told them she heard five to 10 shots fired near her backyard.

      According to the police report, several holes were found in the back wall of the home and one round was found embedded in the wall of the bathroom.

      There is no suspect information in this case either bur neighbors told police they heard several people running through their yards.
