Arrest made in West Ashley shooting

WEST ASHLEY, S.C. (WCIV) -- Charleston police arrested a 19-year-old West Ashley man in connection to the shooting near his home on Monday.

The shooting happened near Briarcliff Drive around 4 p.m., police said. Eight hours alter, Antwon Rashad Brown, of North Sherwood Drive, was charged with attempted murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime.

Brown was arrested during a traffic stop on Sam Rittenberg Boulevard.

According to police, one person was taken to Medical University Hospital for treatment. He had been shot in the hip, police said.{}

Brown is being held in the Al Cannon Detention Center.
