GOOSE CREEK, S.C. (WCIV) -- The mother who claimed that an armed robber hit her baby over the head with a handgun is now facing charges of her own.

According to Goose Creek Police spokesperson John Grainger, investigators found that no gun was involved and the original report that the 11-month-old child was struck in the head with a gun was false.

The child's mother, Karsen Ruffin, has been arrested and charged with felony filing of a false police report.

Goose Creek were investigating a reported robbery at a Dollar General store after Ruffin said that she and her friend Traci Jewell were robbed by two men, one of whom pistol whipped Ruffin's baby.
