Police respond to machete attack downtown

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- Charleston police responded to a home on Hazelwood Drive Saturday afternoon after a call came in saying a man was attacked with a machete.

According to police reports, when officers arrived they found two black men sitting on the steps. One of them was bleeding from his hands, head and torso.

Witnesses told police that a man armed with a machete swung the weapon at the victim several times before running off.

The suspect, 21-year-old Tyrone Rashad Brown, was arrested Sunday and charged with first degree assault and battery. He was given a bond of $25,000.
