Police search for suspect after early morning robbery

MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (WCIV) -- Police are looking for a man who robbed a Mount Pleasant gas station early Friday morning, according to dispatchers.

Officials say an armed man robbed the Kangaroo Express gas station at the intersection of Highway 41 and Highway 17 in Mount Pleasant around 4 a.m.

Dispatchers say the masked man took off. Police could be seen searching the area around the gas station.

According to a police report, the clerk told officers she was behind the counter when a "black male wearing a white t-shirt, blue pants and a white cloth mask holding a large silver knife" came into the store.

The clerk said she tried to leave when the man came up behind her and said "Give me the money."

She said she complied and he got away with about $100 in small bills.
