      Police searching for Dorchester Road gas station robber

      NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- North Charleston police are looking for the man they say robbed a Dorchester Road gas station Wednesday night.

      According to police, the store clerk at the Lil' Cricket store at 6901 Dorchester Road told police a man entered the store, went behind the counter and demanded the clerk open the register.

      While the man went through the register, he told the clerk to gather up all the Newport cigarettes, a police report states. After gathering the money and cigarettes, the suspect ran towards Lambs Road.

      Police described the man as being black and in his 20s with a thick build. He was reportedly about 5 1/2 feet tall. He was wearing a gray hoodie, black pants and shoes with red soles, the report states.{}

      Police said the suspect made mention of a weapon, but the clerk never saw one.

      A surveillance camera captured an image of the robber. Police later released the image.
