Police searching for missing Goose Creek mother

GOOSE CREEK, S.C. (WCIV) -- Shannon Caruso was reported missing on August 19, 2012 by her mother, Diane Caruso.

According to{}the Goose Creek Police{}incident report, Shannon is a 29-year-old mother to a daughter. Diane Caruso told officials she was taking care of Shannon's daughter and that it was not like her to not check in on her child.

The report also states that Diane{}told police{}Shannon is "not mentally stable" and is in a relationship with a physically-abusive boyfriend.

Goose Creek Police say they{}have been actively pursuing the case.{}{}Officials say the Criminal Investigation Division is working the case{}with limited leads developing.

Officials say the latest update in the case is{}recent information they received suggesting that Shannon attempted to contact her father and left him a voice mail message on his cellular phone. Investigators believe the call originated from a number in North Carolina, but officials are currently working to verify this information.

At present, there is no evidence to suggest foul play is involved in Shannon's departure from her home in Goose Creek.

Shannon is described as a white female with blonde hair and hazel eyes, and is 5' feet tall weighing 130 pounds.
