Police ID men in Queen Street armed robbery

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- Police released the names of two men they believe were involved in an early morning armed robbery on Queen Street in downtown Charleston on Friday.

Police identified one of the men as Calvin Lamar Snipe and Zachary Lamar Mikell, both of North Charleston. Snipe has been charged with armed robbery and possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime. Mikell was charged with armed robbery, three counts of assault on police while resisting arrest, two counts of throwing bodily fluids, and threatening a public official.

The two men were taken into custody less than a day after their photos were released to the public by police.

According to a release from police, the robbery happened around 12:40 a.m. Saturday near 47 Queen Street. Police identified two black men as people of interest.

The men were seen driving a silver or gray Mercury Grand Marquis sedan.

Both men are being held in the Al Cannon Detention Center.
