Police seek robbery suspect

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- Investigators are asking for the public's help to identify the man responsible for robbing a man in downtown Charleston early Sunday.

The 21-year-old victim said he was followed from the Recovery Room, 645 King St., to his home on Coming Street just after 1 a.m. Sunday.

The suspect, described as a black male, approximately 5-feet 7-inches tall, allegedly pushed the victim to the ground in front of his home and took his wallet and cellphone.

The suspect is described as a black male, around 5'7" tall with a goatee and a stocky build. He was last seen wearing a dark shirt or sweater with another dark shirt underneath and blue jeans.

The suspect was later identified as a man who had tried to sell some coats at the Coming Street Grocery and police have released a photo from the surveillance cameras there.
