Police: 'Use caution' when dealing with alleged cop impersonator

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) - The woman who was stopped by a man police said was impersonating an officer told police again Tuesday that she did not know the man who stopped her.{}Jason Stoddard, the Moncks Corner man charged with impersonating an officer, argues that the two are friends. Stoddard said Monday night that he was trying to pull a prank on the woman.He called the entire incident a big misunderstanding.Stoddard said the woman was backing up his side of the story and apologized for his arrest. Police said that is not true.{}However, police believe the two do not know each other and that Stoddard likely got her information off of Facebook.{}Police said they have not been able to link Stoddard to the woman in any way, adding people should use caution when dealing with Stoddard.{}
