Power cut out to fair after truck hits power lines

LADSON, S.C. (WCIV) -- Shortly before the Coastal Carolina Fair was set to open Thursday afternoon, power was cut to the fairgrounds by a tractor-trailer truck.

According to Charleston County deputies, the truck knocked down power lines on Highway 78 that feed the fairgrounds' power.

Officials do not know when power will be restored.

Fair officials said the outages around the fairgrounds are spotty because many of the attractions and rides operate on generators.
