MT. PLEASANT, S.C. (WCIV) -- A new place for people to flex their crafting muscles has opened up in Mt. Pleasant.
Rock Paper Scissors Studio held their grand opening on June 1 and has since held classes that not only teach crafting basics but let participants take the crafts home with them.
Compared to Bottles and Brushes, but for crafts, the studio two to three featured crafts a week. Their online calendar shows projects including natural wood lamps, mirrors and an American flag door mat.
Prices vary depending on the craft project and cost of materials. Class time also varies but average two to three hours.
Similar to Bottles and Brushes, crafters can bring their own wine and beer.
Unlike the painting class, Rock Paper Scissors offers open crafting hours every day they're open. Customers can sign up for a studio membership or purchase pay-as-you-go day passes.
"After I left art school, I felt myself not crafting as much, but when you have a stimulating environment and creative people around you, you find yourself much more inspired," says Amanda Robles, creative partner. "We are trying to create a crafting community for those who are not only crafty by nature, but also those who have an interest in tapping into their hidden creative talents."
The studio, located on the North side of the Sea Island Shopping Center on Ben Sawyer Blvd., is open for Open Crafting Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m.
Classes are held Monday, Wednesday and Thursday at 6:30 p.m., Friday and Saturday at 11 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m.
