CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- The American Red Cross is holding an Emergency Preparedness Fair on Saturday to help Lowcountry families prepare for a variety of emergencies, such as hurricanes and fires.The event will features workshops on topics including creating a family emergency plan, building an emergency kit, providing for those with special needs, evacuating and responding to fires."It's a good time to review your own plan and make sure your family, friends and neighbors are prepared," said Gail McGovern, CEO and president of the American Red Cross. "Whether it's a house fire or a natural disaster, having a plan in place before an emergency hits means you'll know where to turn in times of crisis."
There will also be a "Masters of Disasters" workshop designed specifically for kids.
Other activities will also be available for kids in addition to food and other vendors. The event is at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints building located at 1519 Sam Rittenberg Blvd. The event runs from 9 a.m.-2 p.m.
