Remains found in Horry County not missing NY woman

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (AP) - The Horry County Coroner's Office says the human remains found last weekend are not from a New York woman missing since coming to Myrtle Beach for spring break in 2009.

Coroner Robert Edge says the bones sent off for DNA testing belong to a man who was at least 20 years old. The remains were found Saturday by a search crew looking for two missing women.

Investigators say the skull and other bones had been in the area for several years and had been likely scattered by animals.

The discovery of the remains had brought some hope that the disappearance of Brittanee Drexel would be resolved. She was 17 years old when she disappeared in April 2009 during a spring break trip.
