Report: Man arrested after failed carjacking, break-in

MONCKS CORNER, S.C. (WCIV) -- A Pineville man was arrested after officers say he tried to carjack a woman at a Moncks Corner gas station and then tried to break into the Bonneau police chief's truck parked outside a Walmart.

According to an incident report, 25-year-old Tysheem Lamar Gavin approached a woman's truck at a car wash and opened the passenger door. The woman yelled at the man, warning him to close the door, which he did. But then the report states Gavin walked to the passenger side door and began beating on the window.

The woman drove away with Gavin chasing behind her, yelling obscenities, the report states.

While officers were talking to the woman, they received a second call from Bonneau's police chief, who was nearby watching a man try to break into his truck parked outside a Walmart.

Gavin was taken into custody and charged with public intoxication and disorderly conduct. He was also held for an attempted carjacking, the report states.
