Report: Man charged after pointing gun at girlfriend, then himself

WEST ASHLEY, S.C. (WCIV) -- A man was arrested and charged with criminal domestic violence after police say he pointed a gun at his girlfriend and then at himself, pulling the trigger several times.

According to Charleston police, 42-year-old Brent Harper was with his girlfriend at their Sam Rittenberg Boulevard apartment drinking and having fun when Harper allegedly pulled out a gun, pointed it at her face, and pulled the trigger twice.

Police say he also pointed the gun at his own head and pulled the trigger, too.

The woman called her mother, who told her to leave immediately, according to police. The woman went to stay with her mother in Hanahan.

The following day, police say the woman texted Harper, telling him, "I can't do this any more. You are crazy."

He allegedly responded: "Yes, I am crazy."

The woman told police she has not talked to Harper since then.
