MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (WCIV) - A new development is coming to the Charleston Harbor Resort and Marina at Patriots Point on Charleston Harbor.
Leaders from Charleston Harbor Resort and Marina want to send a message: Patriots Point isn't just about that big aircraft carrier.
Officials from the resort, the Patriots Point Development Authority Board and Town of Mount Pleasant broke ground Friday on an 18 thousand square foot building.
It'll come complete with a restaurant to seat hundreds of people, a rooftop bar and a dock. It will also include a private yacht club, fitness center and marina store. But don't worry, we're told the Charleston charm will still be there.
"It's gonna stick with the local Charleston theme and feel," said Director of Sales & Marketing Tracy Mitchell. "We're expecting to employ about 50 people so it's great for the jobs."
The development is near the Patriots Point Naval and Maritime Museum that features the World War II aircraft carrier Yorktown. No word yet on when the building will be up and running.
