Rip current, small craft advisories on SC coast

CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - The National Weather Service has issued a small craft advisory for the South Carolina coast and a rip current warning for the state's lower coast.

Forecasters in Charleston are warning people to stay out of the water along the south coast Monday because of the threat of rip currents. Those warnings extend southward into Florida.

A small craft advisory extends from Wilmington, North Carolina south to Florida. Winds just offshore of upward to 38 mph are expected to make conditions hazardous through Monday for small boats.

A frontal system which moved through over the weekend is bringing cooler temperatures. The high in Charleston on Monday is forecast to be 86 degrees compared to the upper 90s late last week.
