RiverDogs schedule "re-opening night" festivities for May 27

      CHARLESTON,S.C. (DOGS) - Leave it to the Charleston RiverDogs to have not one but two OpeningNights.

      Theoriginal home opener was set for Monday, April 7, at Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Parkagainst the rival Greenville Drive but rain in the Lowcountry forced it to bepostponed until Tuesday, May 27.{} Re-Opening Night festivities will beginat 5:15 pm with the first pitch of that doubleheader being thrown at 6:05 pm.

      "Wehad so many exciting things planned for Opening Night that we don't want todiscard them," said General Manager Dave Echols. "Therefore, we'll simply havea second Opening Night and we'll call it 'Re-Opening Night' on May 27."

      Fans,whether local or visiting from out of town, will enjoy the Re-Opening Nightfestivities as the club features the city of Charleston and its charm.

      Re-OpeningNight will have a grand pregame parade that wraps around the outfield warningtrack that will highlight many staples of Charleston including the College ofCharleston cheerleaders, the North Charleston High School marching band, theSouth Carolina Stingrays' mascot Cool Ray, The Citadel Bulldogs' mascot Spike,the lads from the Holy City Beard and Moustache Society, and a quite few othersone wouldn't expect to see on a baseball field. Santa is expected to join in onthe fun as well. As the parade concludes, the 2014 RiverDogs will be introducedto the home crowd when they enter the stadium on horse-drawn carriages.

      On-handto perform the Star Spangled Banner will be national recording artistand local star Elise Testone.

      Butthe pregame highlight will be the arrival and introduction of loveable mascotCharlie T. RiverDog, who will have a welcoming like none other. Fans will wantto keep an eye on the sky for this one.

      Sincethe Greenville Drive will be our Re-Opening Night guests, it continues the"Battle of the Palmetto State" rivalry series presented by Spinx. The winner ofthe season-long battle will receive the Rivalry Championship Trophy, and withit goes the bragging rights as the state's best Sally League representative.
