SC bowl to be played March 1

GREENVILLE, S.C. (AP) - The second South Carolina College All-Star Bowl will be played March 1 at Furman's Paladin Stadium.

Next year's game is expanding to include players from the Atlantic Coast Conference, Southeastern Conference and Southern Conference, along with those who played high school or college football in the Palmetto State.

Organizers made the announcement Wednesday. The game is designed to give players who finished their college careers another shot to showcase their skills before pro scouts.

Former Clemson coach Danny Ford will again coach the Upstate team while former South Carolina State coach Willie Jeffries will coach the Lowcountry team.

Ford's team won the inaugural game last March at North Greenville, 23-10.

Bowl commissioner Sam Wyche said he expects a strong group of potential NFL players to take part next winter.
