SC corrections officer accused of hurting inmate
COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - A South Carolina Department of Corrections officer is free on bond after her arrest stemming from an assault on an inmate.
The Richland County Sheriff's Department said 25-year-old Kiara Lusk was arrested and charged with assault and battery in connection with an incident at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center on April 29.
Lusk was released from the county jail on a $10,000 bond. Jail records didn't indicate whether Lusk has an attorney.
Sheriff Leon Lott said Lusk is accused of assaulting an inmate inside a dormitory at the detention center, causing injuries to the inmate's elbow and back. Lott said the incident, which followed an argument, was witnessed by another corrections officer, who reported it to their supervisor.Copyright 2014 The Associated Press. All rights reserved.
