COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - Prison officials have captured an inmate at a pre-release work center in Columbia who was reported missing after he didn't show up for a count.
Department of Corrections spokesman Clark Newsom says 25-year-old Maurice Bailey was arrested in Columbia at 9:20 a.m. Monday by prison investigators.
Bailey was reported missing at 7 p.m. Sunday. Newsom says he was supposed to work at a local restaurant that day, but it's not clear whether he ever showed up.
Bailey was in prison for common law robbery. His 5-year sentence started in 2011, but he had been projected to be released later this year.Copyright 2013 The Associated Press. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten or redistributed.
