SC man faces trial on charge of killing, dumping
BEAUFORT, S.C. (AP) -- A South Carolina man accused of killing the mother of his children and dumping her body in a waterway is standing trial in Beaufort County.
The Island Packet of Hilton Head Island reports that 34-year-old Kelvin Jackson of Hampton is charged with killing 34-year-old Masako Yamaguchi Miller.
Jury selection is due to start Monday with the trial expected to begin Tuesday.
Jackson is the father of two of Miller's three children. Her decomposed body was found by a fisherman on a mud flat near where Archers Creek meets the Broad River. Miller was identified by her dental records.
Authorities said Jackson was initially charged with misdemeanor financial transaction card fraud after investigators found him with one of Miller's credit cards.
