BEAUFORT, S.C. (AP) - A Hilton Head Island man has been sentenced to 30 years in prison after pleading guilty to robbing two banks in two days.
The Island Packet of Hilton Head reports that 51-year-old David Edward Boyd pleaded guilty Thursday to six counts, including two counts of making a bomb threat.
Authorities say he robbed a Bank of America branch in Bluffton on May 1 after saying to a teller he had a bomb. Prosecutor Ben Shelton says the teller handed Boyd more than $1,200.
Prosecutors say the next day Boyd walked into a Bank of America branch on Hilton Head Island and showed a teller a note claiming he had a bomb.
Shelton said Boyd earlier spent eight years in prison for robbing two banks in Naples, Fla., in 1995.
