SC officers charge 5 jail inmates with mob assault

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - Five Richland County jail inmates who South Carolina law officers say are gang members are charged with assaulting another inmate.

The Richland County Sheriff's Office says they are accused of assaulting a 32-year-old fellow inmate whom Sheriff Leon Lott said had tried to leave the gang.

Lott said the assault was captured on video. He said the victim suffered injuries to his upper body but declined medical attention.
