SC official to serve on national tourism board
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (AP) - The head of the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce will serve on a board advising the nation's secretary of commerce.
The chamber said Thursday that Brad Dean is one of 32 members appointed by Secretary of Commerce Penny Pritzker to the national Travel and Tourism Advisory Board.
The board was established in 2003 and advises the secretary on matters relating to tourism. Its members are made of representatives from various businesses in the tourism industry.
Dean says he looks forward to helping promote tourism both nationally and in the Myrtle Beach area. He also serves on the board of directors of the U.S. Travel Association, an industry trade group.
