SC state parks schedule archaeology conference

CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - Archaeologists are sharing some of their recent findings from state parks in the South Carolina Lowcountry.

A conference is scheduled for Saturday at Charles Towne Landing in Charleston, the site where the Carolina Colony was founded. State park archaeologists from Charles Towne Landing, Colonial Dorchester and Hampton Plantation state parks are participating in the third annual Charles Towne Landing Archaeology Conference.

A slave badge is 1 of the artifacts found at Charles Towne Landing during the past year. The small metal badges were used during the era of slavery when slave owners would rent out their slaves to others to do particular tasks.
