MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (AP) - Police in Myrtle Beach have arrested a woman accused in connection with a theft reported by her former employer.
The Sun News of Myrtle Beach reports (http://bit.ly/1lgrXi1 ) 43-year-old Michele Thasitis is charged with breach of trust with fraudulent intent and burglary. She was released from jail on $15,000 bond on Friday. It's not known if she has an attorney.
According to police, Robert Harrison of Harrison Amusement said he noticed discrepancies in his bank accounts last August while Thasitis worked as his administrative assistant. He said he fired her, continued investigating and called police.
An incident report filed in January showed about $250,000 had been taken from Harrison Amusement through fraudulent transactions.
Harrison said he found copies of fraudulent checks in Thasitis' desk, including a car purchase he didn't authorize.
