SCDOR: Moncks Corner man arrested on 4 fraudulent tax charges

MONCKS CORNER, S.C. (WCIV) --{} South Carolina Department of Revenue officials announced they made an arrest in a tax refund scam investigation.

The suspect, 36-year-old Quinton Washington of Moncks Corner, is charged with two counts of assisting in the preparation of a fraudulent tax return and two counts of forgery.

SCDOR officials say Washington submitted income tax returns for 2008 and 2009 using fraudulent W-2 information and claimed tax refunds totaling $5,702 and $5,330 that he didn't deserve.

If convicted of the four charges, Washington could face up to 30 years in prison and/or up to $1,000 in fines.
