      SCDOT gives deadline in residential storm clean-up along highways

      COLUMBIA, S.C. (WCIV) - The South Carolina Department ofTransportation said Friday that residents of 18 counties affected by the icestorms in February have until March 24 to pick up debris.

      The orders apply to people who live along state-maintainedroads.

      Affected counties include: Aiken, Allendale, Bamberg,Barnwell, Berkeley, Calhoun, Clarendon, Colleton, Dillon, Dorchester,Edgefield, Florence, Georgetown, Hampton, Horry, Marion, Orangeburg andWilliamsburg.

      This includes only debris from improved residential propertywith a dwelling and excludes debris from unimproved lots without a residence.It includes{}only vegetative debris{}generated by the February 2014 icestorm damages.

      The SCDOT will perform a final pickup of vegetative debrison the right-of-way of state maintained roads shortly after March 24, officialssaid.
